BACKGROUND

Jomhod was born in Thailand 1970. He begun Thaiboxing at the age of seven in Phuket. Jomhod trained every day two hours in the morning and two hours in the evening. He won his first fight at the age of 11 in the weight class of 38kg. The fight was fought traditionally without shin protectors and its lenght was 5 x 3 minutes. The fee was remarkable 200 bah (about 6,6€) which inspired Jomhod into the career and he started fighting 2 - 3 fights per month. After turning 15 Jomhod started training at camps where fighters dedicated themselves fully to the sport and only left the camp for matches. In the camp the days were started with 10 km's run and a morning training. In the afternoon were time for an other more fierce training. In 1986 the hard work was finally paying off since Jomhod won the championship of Southern Thailand in weight class of 59,60 kg. In the same year Jomhod moved to Bangkok and begun his proper fighting career.

PATH TO THE TOP

In Thailand there are many thaiboxing stadiums and the most famous ones are Lumpine and Ratchadamne in which the won championship is more valuable than any of the councils. In 1989 Jomhod fought the first time in Lumpinee stadium. After every match he raised up in the ranking and after 17 fights he won the championship of Lumpine in the weight class of 63,50 kg. In 1994 Jomhod won the Ratchadamne stadium championship in the same weight class and the year later in the weight class in 67 kg. Jomhod achieved his first world championship in the weight class of 67 kg by defeating Ramon 'Diamond' Dekker in 1996.
